Twas the night after Christmas, when all through the house
blood was dripping and pooling in puddles far more than an ounce.
Ears were hung down the staircase with care,
in hopes of exposing his parents’ sins bare.
The bodies were scattered by parts through the homestead,
visions of torment danced in my head.
And Mama in her nighty, Dad in his robe
had just settled their brains for deep sleep mode.
When out of the darkness arose such a clatter,
Dad sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.
Before he could see, he was struck with a flash,
Blood spurting out and I continued to slash.
Screams from the bed, fell into cries – “NO”
Mama sobbed looking at what I had done, “Please just let me go.”
When what to her terrible surprise should have happened,
I loomed above her, knife in hand, her hope now abandoned.
With an anger, a vengeance, did I stick
Mama with my knife, she bled to death quick.
More rapid and frenzied my hand flew,
The urge to destroy them livened and grew.
“Now they’ll see that you never listened…
Just chastised, taunted, and imprisoned.”
With precision, I sliced off their ears, “no more will you hear my supposed lies,”
I whispered to their bloody artifacts as I hung them with ties
To the banister of the stairs,
before creeping down to the others’ lairs.
As the older ones turned, the little ones stirred,
And screams filled the room as the blood in droplets, flew like birds.
All of my brothers and sisters, in laws and kin,
Laid in heaps of mortal sins.
Butchered and hacked, strewn across the land
leaving me by my lonesome with blood stained hands.
Returning to the bathroom, I began to wash.
When looking before me, a man did appear with great panache.
He was angular and rugged, a handsome-ish prick,
And I laughed when I saw him, as his lips he did lick.
A wink of his eye and the tilt of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings with pieces of them.
But I heard him exclaim, as he faded from sight—
“Very good, an ode to your heart of darkness and now a good night!”
